Electromagnetic tooth clutches, in short MZ clutches, can transmit a much higher torque than multi-disk clutches with the same dimensions. They have no slip in the coupled state and no residual torque in the uncoupled state. Due to chiplessly deformed and hardened teeth, they are very wear-resistant and can withstand repeated ratcheting at low speeds. They are virtually maintenance-free and suitable for both wet and dry running. MZ-clutches should be switched on in standstill or synchronous operation. Depending on the elasticity of the gear train, the size of the masses to be accelerated and the load torque, it is also possible to engage at low differential speeds. This value varies from case to case and must be determined by tests. It can be switched off at any speed and under load.
